Melevill the Demonatrix, who is the demonic host and face of the Neo-Pulps! brand, was recently spotted at the Silver Cream Con 4 in DCU CENTER, WORCESTER, MA.
Fans’ reactions varied from bewitchment, fear, and nervousness. Many stood at a safe distance and took photos of the popular shadow demon turned horror hostess and AI slayer, but few dared to approach her.
Upon arriving at the center, Melevill didn’t waste any time. She immediately spotted special makeup effects legend Tom Savini (Creepshow, Day of the Dead) at a table and went directly toward him, cutting through the line of faithful horror fans, many of whom were dressed like Jason from Friday the 13th and wielding machetes.
Some of these fans started to protest the shameless line-cutting that Melevill had inflicted upon them, but she silenced them all with one of her deadly stares and flashing of viper fangs.
Out of respect for the master of practical effects, Melevill did listen to Mr. Savini’s suggestion that she should pay first if she wanted a photograph with him. So Melevill made her slave pay for the privilege of meeting the master, and after all debts were settled, she had the opportunity of talking to the legend himself.
The quick discussion covered Melevill’s new film, a microbudget horror anthology called Melevill’s Tales From Hades, which has been said to echo the campy, high-energy aesthetic of old pulp fiction magazines and Grindhouse/Drive-in movies from the 70’s.
“Hey, great,” Mr. Savini told Melevill, while smiling like a sage warlock. “We need more anthology movies these days. Like those Amicus productions. But keep it authentic and practical. Don’t use any of that AI stuff, or it will kill the magic.”
“There’s nothing I hate more than AI,” Melevill replied to Mr. Savini’s advice. “I’ve been fighting the AI for almost a year now in my show, Melevill’s Hades Theater, where they blocked some of the movies I wanted to host. Like The Cocoanuts from the Marx brothers.”
Mr. Savini laughed at that. “I love the Marx Brothers! You kids are wild. Best of luck to you.”
Mr. Savini went back to his own thoughts while signaling at the other fans who were waiting in line. And Melevill walked away from his table, feeling like the luckiest Shadow demon who has ever pretended to be a horror hostess so she can infiltrate people’s consciousness and slowly eat their shadows while they sleep.
